Equality (1)
Doesn't matter what the name,
race, colour or creed.
We're all the same.
Realise the different breed
within the human race.
All pieced
like pieces in one big chess game.
Equality (2)
It's time to walk hand in hand,
It's time for a world of equality,
It matters not, what you are, or whom you claim to be,
Your you, and thats good enough for me,
This world needs to accept the differances,
Then embrace it like its of flesh and blood,
Cast down the people opposed,
It's our time, we rise from discriminations,
and let our love be a raging fire,
Let the world be color blind,
Let indignities all but fade,
everyones differant,
Who are you to judge?
This world is made for all,
Not the few whom think there more Deserving.
It's time for a world of equality,
It matters not, what you are, or whom you claim to be,
Your you, and thats good enough for me,
This world needs to accept the differances,
Then embrace it like its of flesh and blood,
Cast down the people opposed,
It's our time, we rise from discriminations,
and let our love be a raging fire,
Let the world be color blind,
Let indignities all but fade,
everyones differant,
Who are you to judge?
This world is made for all,
Not the few whom think there more Deserving.
Equality (3)
You declare you see me dimly
through a glass which will not shine,
though I stand before you boldly,
trim in rank and making time.
You do own to hear me faintly
as a whisper out of range,
while my drums beat out the message
and the rhythms never change.
Equality, and I will be free.
Equality, and I will be free.
through a glass which will not shine,
though I stand before you boldly,
trim in rank and making time.
You do own to hear me faintly
as a whisper out of range,
while my drums beat out the message
and the rhythms never change.
Equality, and I will be free.
Equality, and I will be free.
You announce my ways are wanton,
that I fly from man to man,
but if I'm just a shadow to you,
could you ever understand?
We have lived a painful history,
we know the shameful past,
but I keep on marching forward,
and you keep on coming last.
Equality, and I will be free.
Equality, and I will be free.
that I fly from man to man,
but if I'm just a shadow to you,
could you ever understand?
We have lived a painful history,
we know the shameful past,
but I keep on marching forward,
and you keep on coming last.
Equality, and I will be free.
Equality, and I will be free.
Take the blinders from your vision,
take the padding from your ears,
and confess you've heard me crying,
and admit you've seen my tears.
Hear the tempo so compelling,
hear the blood throb through my veins.
Yes, my drums are beating nightly,
and the rhythms never change.
Equality, and I will be free.
Equality, and I will be free.
take the padding from your ears,
and confess you've heard me crying,
and admit you've seen my tears.
Hear the tempo so compelling,
hear the blood throb through my veins.
Yes, my drums are beating nightly,
and the rhythms never change.
Equality, and I will be free.
Equality, and I will be free.
Song of Equality
All appearances are an equality of appearance and emptiness
Each and every sound is an equality of sound and emptiness
Feelings, all of these, are an equality of bliss and emptiness
So, rest then evenly in the equality, free of thoughts’ complexity
Go about the city, and do it like this, be open, spacious and relaxed
Resting evenly in the equality free of all complexity.
Equality (4)
Everybody wants to feel happy, even if you think that you
don’t
Everyone wants to know the secret, even if you think that you don’t
Everybody thinks they’re different from the next man now
But we just got to realize we’re just the same
Always appear to be someone better
You know there will always appear to be someone worse
You know there’ll always appear to be someone better
You know there’ll always appear to be someone worse, oh
Everyone has got their character
Everyone has got their personality
But the longing is still the same
So what is the answer by easy on yourself
Make yourself feel at ease maybe that’s the answer
Always appear to be someone better
You know there will always appear to be someone worse
Always appear to be someone better
You know there’ll always appear to be someone worse, oh
We’re just the same don’t you know
We’re just the same don’t you know
Looking over there
He looks different, she looks different
They might even be different
But we’re just the same, don’t you know
We’re just the same, don’t you know
We’re just the same
Everyone wants to know the secret, even if you think that you don’t
Everybody thinks they’re different from the next man now
But we just got to realize we’re just the same
Always appear to be someone better
You know there will always appear to be someone worse
You know there’ll always appear to be someone better
You know there’ll always appear to be someone worse, oh

Everyone has got their personality
But the longing is still the same
So what is the answer by easy on yourself
Make yourself feel at ease maybe that’s the answer

You know there will always appear to be someone worse
Always appear to be someone better
You know there’ll always appear to be someone worse, oh

We’re just the same don’t you know

He looks different, she looks different
They might even be different
But we’re just the same, don’t you know
We’re just the same, don’t you know
We’re just the same
Short Story
Chester the Police Cat
Once upon a time there lived a cat called Theodor. All the
other cats in the area had great respect for him, for he had managed to be
adopted by an old lady and he was looked after better than he could ever have
imagined.
Old Chester was the local police-cat and his main duty was to warn the other cats of dogs prowling around nearby.
Today was an important day, for all the cats were going to decide who would be the new police-cat, for old Chester couldn’t run as fast as he used to and he was getting old and tired…
Theodor gave a long speech to persuade everyone that he was the best catfor such a big responsibility. He ate very well, he said, and this made him strong and healthy and therefore very fast.
Theodor thought he was certain to be voted the new police-cat because nobody else volunteered. But suddenly a pretty little cat appeared on top of a rubbish bin and spoke. “Hello friends, I too would like to be a candidate, for I’m very agile and quick“.
Surprised, Theodor replied: “But you’re only a little she-cat and this job is for he-cats, because to be a police-cat you have to be very brave, strong and fast!”
The other cats began to purr and miaow in confusion. Having listened quietly to the two cats, old Chester now spoke: “Dear friends, maybe it’s not important whether our new police-cat is male or female. What’s really important is that he or she can perform the duties of a watch-cat and keep all cats safe“.
All the cats thought hard about what Chester had said, and argued for a while about who should be the new police-cat… And who do you think it was in the end?

Analysis
Racial Equality - This article is written by a teenager who
reflects on the current racial equality within the nation, how it has affected
the nation and what should be done about it. This article is entirely of the
writers own opinion, and you only get his/her point of view on the issue,
though the writer does draw upon his/her own experiences in life. The
writer focuses more on the racial barriers of the nation and how it holds the
nation back, as well as some of the ignorance people have about other races
since not everyone has had a chance to be in a multicultural environment or
discuss racism with someone of another race. This article makes a point of
trying to change that. The equality comes in because though the majority of
people aren't racist, as long as people are ignorant of other races there isn't
true equality. Yes, people might be treated equally and have the same rights,
but people are viewed as completely different. And people, though unique and
individuals are different, people as a whole no matter what race or gender are
the same. Until people stop treating other races as a separate race and start
treating them merely as other humans, there won't be true racial
equality.
Gender Equality - This is a short article about the writers experience in sports and the gender discrimination that she saw and her protests about it. Sports are typically thought of things for males, though there are some sports thought to be for females. This is not equality at all. Equality is sports being though of as neither male or female things, allowing whoever wants to play to play it and allowing both genders to play it the same way. The writer brings up the point of guys being more aggressive in games and girls often not being as aggressive, which, from the article, seems to be more because people don't allow it rather than girls being less aggressive than guys. People view girls differently from guys and treat them that way. It isn't equal and shouldn't be done, guys and girls should be treated equally and that is the heart of this article.
Equality (1) - This is a short poem but it gets to the heart of equality in society. People are the same no matter what race, color, or gender and they should be treated equally. People are just a part of the world, but we're all the same.
Equality (2) - First off, I apologize for the spelling errors in the poem. It's how the poem was written and there's not much I can do about it, I considered finding a different one but errors aside the poem itself works well enough. The writer of this poem recognizes that people are treated differently and seen differently, and asks that people accept those differences and treat everyone equally without judging them. The writer even goes beyond the usual race, color, and gender and goes into who (and what) a person is. Equality at its finest. It doesn't matter if they have done bad things in the past, what matters is who they are now. The world we live in is for all of us equally, there is no reason to discriminate and people should just accept the differences rather than hate them.
Equality (3) - This poem speaks of an individual who is not free, who is crying for equality and freedom and fighting for it, and talking to someone who seems to know equality but is blind to the writers plight. The writer speaks of a painful past, and pleads for the reader to understand and remove that which is blinding them and blocking their hearing, pleading for the reader to attempt that they have seen the suffering and cries for equality. This is not a poem about what equality is, it is on of someone fighting for their equality.
Song of Equality - This short song focuses on the balance of equality. For every sound there is equal sound and lack of sound. For every sight there is equal appearance and equal nothingness. People typically only make note of one side of the balance in cases like this, but the balance of equality can be applied to rights as well. Both sides have the exact same rights, no one has any more or any fewer rights than the other side. However, that doesn't stop one side being treated differently ,which means it isn't truly balanced but to achieve the balance is a tricky thing. People have to be willing to accept the differences and look beyond them, seeing the person as a whole, as a part of humankind rather than as a certain gender or race.
Equality (4) - This song focuses one the parts of people that are the same rather than the differences, like some of the other works did. Everyone is the same, we want the same things, and though we think we're different from someone else we're actually the same. We have our own unique character and personalities but our wants and longings are the same. This sameness makes everyone equal.
Chester the Police Cat - This is a really simple children's story, yet it demonstrates what equality. It doesn't matter whether it was the she-cat or the he-cat, as long as they could get the job done. Both genders were equal, no one thought that the she-cat was weaker than the he-cat and though Theodor said the police cat should be a he-cat because being a police cat is for those who are fast and brave, Chester taught that she-cats can be fast and brave too. He didn't discriminate, instead he treated them both equally. As for who you think would be the police cat, if you care enough about it, leave a thought in the comments and give a reason why. It doesn't have much to do with my word, but I think it'll be interesting.

First of all, excellent found text page! Your analyses and descriptions were thorough, and your texts nicely suited your purpose. I don't know how much more in depth you can go with this, but this page is really nicely written.
ReplyDeleteIf you were thinking about elaborating, there are a few interesting things that you can address in your poems -- probably not as necessary, but interesting nonetheless.
For equality (1) and (2), I can't help but notice that one emphasizes the fact that we are the same and therefore we should get along and the other emphasizes the fact that we are different and must learn to accept that. What do you think about this contradiction?
For equality (3), you mention that the poem is about somebody struggling to find equality. You, perhaps, should note and analyze the reasons why the author does not equality.
Again, these are only point where you can elaborate on if you wish.
I think your found text page is really good. You properly analyze all of your texts and the reader understands what's going on. I don't think you need to change anything on this page.
ReplyDeleteGreat Found Text page. Your examples are relative and aid you in your point. I would suggest that you make your sections of found text more separate with different sizes of font for the titles and bolding them.
ReplyDeleteCool, this was the page I thought needed work. Guess I was wrong. If I have time I will use some of your suggestions, but otherwise I'm going to focus on the parts of my blog that need more work. I'm slightly saddened that no one commented on Chester the cat though. Ah well.
